Travel Reviews on Canary Islands
Choose from 9 holiday rental apartments in the beautiful Canary Islands. Spain
With 9 units to choose from situated in Caleta Du Fuste Fuerteventura Canary Islands it’s a choice you need to make. Upon arrival in Fuerteventura, the first thing you will notice is that it has a very odd landscape, as all the Canary Islands are of volcanic origin. Therefore, there is not much natural life here also, the part of coast which Caleta De Fuste sits on has no natural beaches, and therefore the beach at Caleta is man made. In the north of the Island, near Correlejo, there are sand dunes and beaches, and down in the south at Jandia there is a beach 32km long. The "capital" of the Island is Puerto Del Rosario, which is only about 20 minutes drive from Caleta and on the same coast. There isn't much tourist activity there, and everything feels much more Spanish in Rosario than in Caleta and Correlejo. There is always a constant breeze on the island, which is actually quite nice when the sun is on you! You certainly feel the heat when the wind dies down.Snorkelling in the cordoned off area is fun, as the clear waters allow you too see the fish easily. In the harbour area, there are more fish to be seen, and them being fed with bread is a common sight. There is an oceanarium (with fish!) and various boat trips leave from the harbour. For those of you who wish to it is possible to go windsurfing, jet skiing, or scuba diving. An easy pleasant walk north from Caleta, along an attractive coastal path, takes you to Nuevo Horizonte the path is populated by Ground Squirrels, known here as chipmunks. These will come up to you to be hand fed. When the tide is out the rock pools are worth a look. If you continue up to the old water-park and then go left you will arrive at Costa Caleta, or Nuevo Horizonte, where you will find a selection of bars and restaurants, including Kavanaghs . If you walk south from Caleta, along the coast, you will reach the Atlantico shopping centre which has a cinema, an amusement arcade with a bowling alley, and the largest supermarket in Caleta de Fuste. There are several restaurants and some designer shops. A further 30 minutes will take you to Las Salinas. The walking here is not over a paved path, but it is not at all difficult. Most of the other shops are found in the central area of Caleta. And there is also a market on Saturday mornings The views from Chipmunk mountain makes it worthwhile walking up the hill. This is a little more strenuous than the other two but not too difficult updated February 2018
